Taliah Givens is an engineer turned youth and career development leader using her analytical education to solve the social-educational equations of today in the K-12 through higher education sectors. She is a product of a strong family, great teaching and supportive mentoring that helped her attain a full presidential college scholarship and other valuable merit-based awards to achieve her education goals. A native of Paterson, NJ with deep southern roots, she is a true “hidden figure” becoming one of the first black females to complete dual engineering degrees between Alabama A&M University and the Georgia Institute of Technology in electrical engineering technology and computer engineering respectively. She later went on to achieve a master’s degree in public administration as a 2006 National Urban Fellow and a 2012 American Leader of Change.
She has a passion for youth achievement and finds intrinsic value in connecting thousands of students over her career to opportunities for high school, college and career success. She has worked extensively for 20 years in progressive leadership for national K-12 and higher education organizations including Jobs for America’s Graduates, the Council of Chief State School Officers, and the United Negro College Fund helping improve access for students to learn the skills and strategies to achieve through academic, leadership, career and scholarship opportunities. Now with her company, GiventoServe, LLC, The I AM WORTH THE INVESTMENT NETWORK and her new book with companion study guide, she continues to be a leading education coach and youth advocate letting young people know they too are – “Worth the Investment."
