We can develop the athlete in us in many different ways. We often start in some little league sports team or beginner class and continue to develop into higher age and skill levels. Athleticism is not limited to just team sports on a court or field; it includes gymnastics, golf, aerobics, fencing, equestrian, and boating. Even skateboarding is now an Olympic sport. Athletic achievement requires some level of physical activity and competition even if it is competition within yourself. You should challenge yourself to do your best and be better. What is important to remember is that we all need exercise. Therefore, some athletic activities support the development of basic health and wellness.
